No way its November?

Well as yo can see its been a while since I updated the blog. Too bad really I was having fun doing the Brew Blog, but as usual school and life caught up to me and I had to take a break. Normally when I say this its to announce that I will be back to doing updates on a regular basis.

Not this time though; I am still incredibly busy with school and at this point setting aside time for the blog is just not possible.

However since I am currently frustrated with just about everything I have going on at the moment I'll share a few things I would like to get off my chest....

The Yankees are World Series Champions...again. For the 27th time and their 5th in my lifetime. I dont care how many people hate them or criticize them for their high payroll or steroid connections. The bottom line is that they had one of the best teams of all time this year and earned every win they got and deserve credit where credit is due.... Tex will undoubtabley get a gold glove, A-Rod finally broke out of his post season slump, Swisher reminded the team that baseball was fun, Jeter broke the all time hits record for a yankee, Petite-Posoda-Jeter-Mariano are all Legends and will all be in the Hall of Fame... and so will Hideki Matsuis bat from game 6.

The Sabres are off to a Great start but before I jinx them Ill just say how sweet it must for for Tyler Myers the 19 year old beast to be a fixture on an NHL team, thats just amazing to me... being 23 now it seems I keep getting older and talent in the NHL keeps getting younger.

Oh and Ill call it now before its too late WATCH OUT FOR THE LA KINGS... my favorite team in the West this year good to see Anzje Kopitar getting the attention he deserves

Yeah I turned 23 a couple weeks ago... not very eventful... but not as bad as I thought, only thing that makes it weird is the fact that most of my classmates are just turning 21 or not even 21 yet, guess thats my fault for dicking around so much after high school

This kid I grew up with and still talk to all the time is a professional male model... not joking just got done looking at pictures of him on a particular young peoples clothing line... hes all over the website, I am really happy for him, I know its not what he set out to do but at least he is doing something and thats more than I can say with some other people I grew up with.

In school we just finished a project for the Town of Dewitt. They came to our school and asked if we can design a town park for them where they would be locating their public library and parks and rec office... It was really fun doing a design that had the possibility of actually being implemented and for once, I actually cared about what I was putting on paper. It must have shown because I was picked along with 14 other classmates to present my final design to two board members from the Town of Dewitt. They didnt exactly say they were going to choose one of our designs but they seemed generally impressed and asked for copies so they could bring them to town meetings during the next phase of getting the park built.

Other than that school has pretty much been crushing my soul... I am a week behind in my autocad class... which ironically is over I just have to turn in a final project by tuesday, in studio we are doing a design competition for a park in Georgia which my professor is making us do an abundance of research for and thats pretty much been pissing me off and will be pissing me off until Thanksgiving break....

Oh one positive thing I get to see my favorite band ever in two weeks MINUS THE BEAR, and get to hang out with friends from back home ... cant wait

What : Magic Hat Seasonal - Autumn - Roxy Rolles

Review: This is... was my first choice for my start of the Fall Seasonal Beers. I figured you cant go wrong with magic hat, and I was right. Yeah its a little dark reddish tint to it but thankfully it doesnt have an overwhelming fruity after taste. its just right honestly this is a great dinner beer I dont remember what specifically I ate that night but it seemed right that I was drinking and eating with this combination

Bottom-Line: Great way to kick of the season, will definitely be purchasing again!

Background: too lazy to look it up right now

Review: The day I bought this was the same day I decided to start tackling all of the variations of Oktoberfest/harvest/pumpkin... etc beers it being the season and all. But for some reason This beer eyed me down the whole time I was making my selection. The name rings in my head as Marty McSorley that dirty hockey player from a couple years back. I had to get it plus it said black lager and I was feeling very up to any challenge so I grabbed it along with some Magic Hat Seasonal (see next post) and headed home. So in effort to get the autentic experiance I poured my first glass at room temperature and took a nice hearty swig. Preparing myself for that unmistakable coffee taste that Guinness has lead me to expect, I was surprised by its absence. Excitedly I gulped it down but decided it would taste better after being chilled in the fridge for a while. So I made some food and waited and when I pured the next one I was rewarded with my new beer of choice for St. Pattys day.

Bottom-line: Drinking Guinness may appeal to your desire to look cool and feel different for drinking it amongst friends.... but McSorleys leaves out the coffee aftertaste and makes you look even cooler for drinking it amongst friends.

problem is in the past few weeks Ive come across about 7 new LP's and its going to take me a while to do all of them so by the time I get to them it might not be as relevant as I want it to be but heres the first one...

Once a skeptic of this band my friends changed my mind back in ... geeze what 8th grade or 9th idk bottom line is I downloaded their "old" stuff on napster or kazza hahaha so its been a while, they've changed singers and drummers and have been sidetracked numerous times since than Ive seen all the lineups in concert and to me it still a sound that I enjoy

why the history lesson? well its come to my attention that those very people that turned me onto this band so many years ago have lost attention in this band and some dont even care to hear the new album in fear that it will sound too much like the last one that came out in what 2005 freshman year of college wow it really has been a minute so whats the verdict?

All in all I like it , 14 tracks long which is pretty lenghty for this band... I must admit that I was a little disappointed not to hear anything that made me instantly get pumped like sleepers did for me on the last album, I think partly they were attempting to be a little more commercial in hopes of attracting new fans but some of the songs come out as recycled music we've heard before.... not saying I dont like it its been in my car cd player for about a week now and I haven't swapped it out so to wrap it up if you liked this band to begin with there is no reason you wont like this cd if your a new listener it might be a little more difficult to get into but well see if the videos do well on fuse and online and maybe just maybe they'll make it on to mainstream radio

What: Commodore Perry IPA, Great Lakes Brewing Co. Clevalnad Ohio

Background: A medium-bodied and well hopped India Pale Ale with a dry, fruity aftertaste.The Bow Brewery in London exported this pale ale to the multitude of British soldiers, colonial administrators and settlers in India. This pale ale style was a strong candidate for shipping due to the high potency and high level of attenuation. 6.4% Alcohol availible in 6 or 12 packs

Review: If theres one thing I dont like about trying new beers is beers that taste fruity... alas trying to expand my brew pallete I picked up this for my second installment on the brew blog. It might have been then cool backstory on the case and bottles or it might have been the high percent of alcohol per volume, more likely the ladder as it was a long day of school if I remember correctly. Anyways pouring it into my pint glass I could immediately smell the fruit in this brew, and my stomach was having second thoughts about the whole thing. I admit the first sips.... hell the first glass did not go down very smooth for me. Each time I forced a gulp down I instantly grimaced as the after taste coated my mouth and throat. After that though the second one went down fine , the third one I slammed and after that .... forget about it I was buzzed nothing mattered

Bottomline: Would I buy it again, Hell No... but I did get me hammered. And Ill drink any beer based off of American Wars

So this is my first brew blog attempt its about a week after I actually had the beer itself but none the less here is is

As you can see by the picture the Brew I chose was Phin & Matt's extraordinary ale brewed by the Southern Tier Brewing Company

heres the backround:When we sat down to collaborate on this beer, we knew we had to create something extraordinary. After sampling a wide array of great beers, we hit upon an idea: use vast amounts of whole hops, the finest malted barley North America has to offer, and crystal filtered artesian water. Thus creating this classic American style pale ale.

heres my review: I wish I had more to say about this brew but it is the most average ale I have ever had, I didn't taste bad at all, and it was pretty smooth to drink. On the other hand it wasnt that great that I plan to put it in regular fridge roatation

heres the bottom line: maybe Phin & Matt's Ordinary Ale would be a more suitable name

so theres my first installment of my Brew Blog.... still working on the format and review process as Ive seen others online with rating systems for flavor, feel, drinkability, etc... maybe Ill just do an overall rating system

Today was my last day of classes... I had my final presentation for studio and got positive feedback for once when i get all my stuff home ill post up some pictures of my final project so you can attempt to understand why I never get any sleep and spend hours on end at school 

I dont have any finals this year so my summer kinda started already I guess, although I still have to go to school tomorrow to tie up some loose ends with my sketchbook and portfolio

than ill move back home and start looking for a job that hopefully wont suck 

other than that I cant beleive the san jose sharks the presidents trophy from this season got knocked out of the first round by an 8th seeded ducks... and chances are my favourite player of all time will probably retire without a cup

right now im watching game 7 of the caps rangers series... its 1-1 going into the 3rd and I really hope coach brodeau or however u spell it lights a fire under the caps asses because if the caps lose tonight my interest in the playoffs will diminish... although the blackhawks are still in it....... 

I just had one of those moments where you look away from the tv and computer to realize that you are sitting alone in the dark with not lights on in the house... lol ive been laying on the couch since I got home and im ok with sitting in the dark

Yeah I know it came out last summer and I remember seeing something about it but when I saw Josh Peck (from Drake and Josh.. on Nickelodeon) I kinda just shrugged it off.... 

But I gave it a chance since its out on DVD now and I gotta say I was pretty suprised

for those of you who arent familiar with the plot of this movie and are too lazy to look it up heres a quick and simplified breakdown

- Its a coming of age movie in the sense that lessons are learned and people change because of them

- Its set in 1994... which Ive gotta say does a pretty good job of catching the vibe of the time I always wondered how they would do movies set in the early 90's 

- The main character sells weed... a lot of it

-there are 2 dynamic takes on a "love story"

-Sir Ben Kingsley plays a drug using pot smoking psychiatrist 

- it will make you laugh

but thats just my take on it go see it for yourself and form your own opinion thats whats so great about movies... the way they make you feel

So over the past few weeks Ive come to learn that I am a little obsessed with Zooey Deschanel

I don't know what it is about her that fascinates me but 6 wallpapers, 3 leading role movies, 1 full length album, 1 wikipedia entry, 1 IMDb search, and a endless amount of google and youtube results, have let me confirm that I pretty much am a little obsessed

its something about her voice that makes me want to listen to her talk ... even sing, I went through the trouble of finding her debut album She & Him - Volume one... it came out about a year ago and if you google it youll find nothing but good reviews

Playoff Hockey!

playoff hockey starts tomorrow night and even though the Sabres didnt make it (again) I am still stoked to watch the games. To me there is no other sport that comes close to playoff hockey... yeah 16 teams make it and its last into July but whats so wrong with that?!!

anyways I cant wait to see the Pennsylvania matchup between Philly and Pitt...mainly because I know it promises to be full of broken faces and pentaly minutes , as much as I hate hate hate Philly I hope they roll over the pens and crosby gets hurt

anyways out of the East I want the Caps because when Ovie wins a cup hell finally get the resepect from those whove been witholding it due to his "antics"

Final Projects are my kryptonite

So its been more than a month since my last post, I'm kinda upset about that because every time I finish leaving a post I feel pretty good about it and tell myself I'm going to do it more and than some how life picks up and I get so busy I don't come back to this blog until things settle down

with that said I can pretty much guarantee this will be my last post until May or June because there's only 3 weeks of school left... yeah seriously and get this I only have 7 days of class left thanks to my Tuesday Thursday schedule, and I have 2 rather large final projects due on the 28Th that I am not ready for

so with the standard preface of all my posts over with ill transition to the usual since my last post portion...

yeah i didn't realize the irony of my last couple post until just now my itunes top 25 and my love/addiction of music ultimately led to the demise of my last computer but on the plus side i have this brand new macbook pro so I cant be too angry other than the fact I don't have the money to pay for it yet

also a shout out to walker for leaving a comment on my post... its funny just when you think nobodies reading these things .. theres hope

since than I have been a little less reckless with what I get from the Internet and only dl music I absolutely need in my life

as far as the post about the death of hip hop and my suspects and what not Ive decided not to write it... all you need to know is that I have a very biased opinion when it comes to rap music and its not worth me calling out "rappers" because I simply dont get paid for my opinion (unfortunately) 

next up well swing it over to some other obsession, my sports teams 

Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end

Yankees Opening day baseball was met with a disappointing showing from all the new talent we hired which turned into an opening day loss... and on top of that the Buffalo Sabres my much beloved hockey time was finally handed its season ending blow courtesy of the Detroit Red Wings one of my most hated teams of all time

I'm trying to be optimistic about all of this and I'm halfway there because for the Yankees theres still 161 more games to play and theres really no reason to panic until late July for those guys

but as for the Sabres the future is unsettling for any fan 

-the coaching/general manager tandem of Lindy Ruff and Darcy Reiger has been called into question by various media outlets and a lot of people are calling for a change

-although I'm upset at the thought of losing them it might be just what the sabres need , I mean other than dropping afinagenov, lalime, and peters. 

-also its scares me a bit to think if change comes in the form of a new front office and head coach what the fate of my favorite player (Clarke MacArthur) will be, he had a fantastic season  17 goals, 14 assists for 31 points in just 71 games making him the 8th point getter on the team, An above average season for most players first full year with a big club

Buffalo fans need.. no scratch that deserve a CUP and soon

so anyways what am I doing right now on this thing for more than an hour I have 3 concept diagrams due tomorrow and thats all fine and dandy except for the fact that I don't have 3 different concepts ... Ive even been told by my professors this is my weak point for some reason the creative process escapes me and I get tunnel vision every time I start a new project

my brain has been switched to autopilot for some reason ever since the week before spring break

I lack motivation, imagination, inspiration, desperation, creation, and a whole bunch of other words that end in tion ... what a great suffix... is that whats its called ?... idk I guess I just like the word suffix as well...

anyways Ill probably show up to class empty handed tomorrow and get a nice solid jawing from my peers and professors about how school is almost over and how I need to get busy and get to work and yadda yadda yadda ... 

just what I need right? luckily Im going home this weekend for Easter

Id like to think that will help me syke myself up for the last 3 weeks of class but the more I think about it Im sure my family will just stress me out about school work, getting a house for next year, getting a job for the summer, getting a internship next year, getting a job next year, the money I owe my father, and a whole bunch of other questions that are literally on my mind 24/7-365 ... oh did I mention Ive been having trouble falling asleep lately.. gee I wonder why

but hey that's life I got myself into it and Im gonna find my way out of it ... eventually

anyways I'm watching the sabres game right now they just tied it up at 1 and I gotta say its hard to watch because vanek is still out with a broken jaw and thanks to that the Alaskan Spaniard scott gomez millers going to be out for the year even though they say there is no timetable for his return .. even with that said high ankle sprains are not something you heal in a couple weeks especially for a goaile who is constantly testing and turning on their ankle... so basically if lalime doesnt start to remember how to play goalie the sabres are s.o.l. playoff wise and Scott Gomez IS DEAD NEXT TIME WE PLAY THE RANGERS... SERIOUSLY KALETA IS GOING TO KILL HIM.... and I hope he does

Nextly , yeah i just made that up, I would like to say that in 1o days I will be leaving for San Diego for spring break and it seriously cant come soon enough its so damn cold here and it will never stop snowing not to mention i have a ton of studio stuff to do before I leave which sucks

Top 25 Songs... accoring to my Itunes

Its been just over 2 years since the last time I reformatted my computer due to technical issues... yes its a Dell and most of the time its solid but occasionally it fucks up... anyways in that time span I have amassed 20.5 GB of music a considerable part of my modest HDD.

Some of you might find that number small becuase I know people who have upwards of 80 GB of JUST MUSIC on their computers, but I would just like to point out that if I dont listen to it than I dont keep it so all 20 GB of music on my computer is in regular rotation on my Itunes over 10 days worth of tunes...

Anyways with that said good ol' Itunes keeps track of play counts of each song and than records the top 25 automatically in a playlist at your disposal aptly named Top 25 Most Played. So I recently put that playlist to use and heres what I got... ***(Note: This does not mean they are my Top 25 Favorite Songs of all Time... they are just the staples of my musical taste)

3 1/2 Months....

Breaks over were back at school. I hate Spring Semester... theres nothing to do, its always snowing always cold, and every day I daydream about summer... o summer how I love you.

So this semester should be interesting I am only taking 2 classes , yup.. and before you say awww lucky just remember this is why I have to stay in school a year longer than all of you so just save it... Not to mention since Im only taking 2 classes I have to find a job.. yup so I can work it for a whole 12 weeks if that... not to mention I dont know where the hell Im going to find a job... I refuse to work in the food industry so my choices are slim...

anyways break was a blast finnaly got a digital camera , and a Sabres 3rd jersey which is currently in Buffalo getting lettered and numbered by the teams equipment manager... New Years was also fun saved money by having a party instead of going to a bar... yeah the party in cuse never happend ....

so things to look forward to...

I should be able to make it to the last 7 Home games for Cuse BBALL, good thing cuz Id like to get my moneys worth on the season tix

Hockey All Star Game/weekend 1/23-25 - cant wait to see the trick shot competition again

CNY BrewFest 1/31... went to it last year and it was super fun just wandering around drinking all kinds of different beers

Spring Break 3/15-3/24? something like that... hopefully going somewhere this year

Texting Killed the AIM Star...

So Ive been home for exactly one month and its been plently long enough. I never felt like a break has lasted so long. Don't get me wrong I love being home with my friends and family, but during the day I dont have anything to do. I sleep till atleast noon everyday which means I dont fall asleep til 4am later... which just makes me want to sleep even longer... but anyways when I do finnally wake up I have to find ways to entertain myself since everybody else works or frowns apon day boozing.. So I play a lil xbox watch a lil tv than hop on this piece of shit laptop to see what everyones up to. (I have a desktop that I leave at school so I have to use this 10 year old laptop when im home on breaks).. So anyways I check my school mail and w/e than slide over to facebook for 2 minutes of entertainment and than for some reason I sign onto AIM... every day and I dont know why?!?!?!
Its like you sign on just to see half the people that used to be on all the time on than those that are have away messages up... uniformitve at that... we all used to put every lil detail in our away messages now theyre just one or two word posts...
Now I realize there comes a time in every generation life that people just stop using AIM cuz the get older and stop keeping in touch and facebook pretty much does that for us... but even more than that Texting has elimanted the use for AIM... why bother signing on when i can just shoot a txt?...

anyways what IM trying to say is AIM is like those zach morris cell phones, its old ugly clumbsy technology

and on that note I have to go eat the last dinner my whole family will eat together at the dinner table in the house we grew up in... my sister moves out this weekend and Im going back to school ...

on the plus side we get to turn her room into a media room hahaha
